ABOUT USThe powerhouse behind Green Built Communities is Laurie Nadeau. Laurie’s sophistication as a long-time real estate professional belies an earthy dynamic born of a childhood on a 400-acre dairy farm in Northern California. Obviously, Laurie grew up in touch with the land. Farming means green as a way of life. Once she left the farm, Laurie was bound for a career in real estate and a passion for doing good works and helping people. Her vocation and avocation have most recently come together in working with local banks to help challenged mortgage holders stay in their homes. Green Built Communities is the culmination of Laurie’s desire to help her community, to work for the environment in practical, meaningful ways, and to help hardworking people live better, more affordable, more comfortable lives. With a career as a salesperson and a doer, Laurie can keep costs so astonishingly low because she sources the highest-quality materials at the lowest possible prices and operates on a razor-thin margin. ABOUT OUR HOMESAll materials in Green Built Communities homes are sourced from a single supplier, keeping quality control quite high and costs low. You also experience near zero waste during construction, lowering cleanup and waste removal costs. All of the home’s components are included in the package, including solar panels for power and hot water; high-quality, energy efficient windows; low-flow plumbing fixtures; bamboo cabinets and flooring; and granite, recycled glass or engineered stone countertops. Green Built Communities homes feature a very tight thermal envelope and high R-value insulation. Materials include little if any OSB and VOC, and no formaldehyde is used in production. Materials are shipped incrementally, based on your building schedule. They’re delivered to the jobsite in containers. Materials are pre-cut (including countertops, dormers and outriggers), and some components pre-assembled (exterior wall panels, cabinets, stairs, doors, windows, and tile panels for showers). Windows come wrapped and boxed for easy installation during wall set up. All wood products originate from Canada, Russia and Mongolia, and are FSC certified and renewable. All lumber is kiln dried to achieve 9-11% moisture content.
